Newkirk was selected by Motorola to construct the communications system for the Michigan State Police communication system. This network provides safety communications throughout the entire State of Michigan from Detroit to the furthest reaches of the Upper Peninsula. For this large project, Newkirk provided complete site construction for 181 tower sites to be built in four phases over a five-year period. The system's towers range in height from 300 to 475 feet and include both self-supporting and guyed designs.
