NFPA Compliance and Training
Newkirk Electric’s Service and Testing Division provides comprehensive services to guide you to NFPA 70E and 70B compliance. The 2019 edition of NFPA 70 E introduced several significant changes to enhance electrical safety in the workplace. The notable update was the emphasis on the risk assessment process and the clarification of the use pf personal protective equipment (PPE), the need for arc-rated clothing, and equipment based on the level of risk. In 2024, NFPA revised the 70B Recommended Practices to be a full Standard for electrical safe work practices. OSHA considers NFPA 70E as a national consensus standard for electrical safety and electrical maintenance and will enforce it under the general duty clause. What this means for employers is there is a new expectation of compliance, and these practices will save you time and money related to your maintenance and equipment costs. More importantly, complying with the standards will ensure the safety of your employees.
Newkirk Electric has identified a 6-step path to NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B compliance. Newkirk’s program includes a 3-year Electrical Maintenance Program that meets the latest NFPA 70B standard. Newkirk’s experienced and trained teams perform the tests, identify potential issues, recommend courses of action, and complete repairs on all types of electrical systems. Customers are provided access to documentation of all maintenance records at their facility. Finally, Newkirk’s certified personnel can provide training for your employees at your site. Newkirk’s program helps employers each step of the way to full compliance for both 70E and the existing equipment maintenance standard NFPA 70B.
